The Secretary of International Affairs oversees the management of Mexico’s international policy, which is overseen by the President of the United Mexican States. The notions of foreign affairs are:
- Regard to foreign law;
- Recognition of the state’s autonomy; and
- Advancing global defense.
The Estrada Theory has been an essential addition to these ideas ever since the 1930s. Following are the countries that have diplomatic relations with Mexico.
United States
Throughout World War II, Mexico and the U.S. formed an association that resulted in a much more pleasant interaction between the two nations. The country has an embassy in Washington, D.C., and the United States has one in the country’s capital. It backed American Cold War objectives and did not oppose American action in Guatemala which led to the overthrow of communist leader Jacobo Arbenz.
Both nations have forged closer trade relations since 1994. To remove obstacles to commerce and investments the countries negotiated the North American Free Trade Treaty.
Canada
A strong, complex relationship exists between Canada and Mexico, one that is marked by strong inter-country ties, extensive cultural exchanges, and expanding trade and investment. The Canadian government has pledged to improve and deepen ties with the nation in appreciation of this crucial relationship.
Their friendship depends heavily on their shared cultural and educational interests. In 2021, 14,435 Mexican students studied in Canada. With continuing communication and interaction, nations have developed into significant strategic allies.
Australia
In 1966, Australia and Mexico formed diplomatic ties. The nation’s capital hosts an embassy for Australia. Canberra is home to the Mexican embassy. Individual ties between the countries are also growing, as more Mexican pupils are opting to study in Australia and more Australians are traveling to the country frequently.
China
The People’s Republic of China and the United Mexican States have diplomatic ties, which are known as China-Mexico relations. In 1972, official ties were restored. Both countries are participants of the United Nations, the G-20 leading powers, and the Asia-Pacific Trade Union.
China ranked as the nation’s second-largest import commercial ally in 2014 and its fourth-largest exporter of goods.
Nepal
On November 25, 1975, Nepal and Mexico formally established bilateral ties, which have been amicable and polite ever since. The diplomat of Nepal to the United States is appointed here. Ties between the two nations have spanned more than four decades and are characterized by trust, mutual respect, and teamwork on both a bilateral and international level.
After the disasters of 2015, it offered assistance and sympathy, including in the ensuing restoration projects. Concerning many global topics, like climate change and catastrophe risk management, both have similar views.
Turkey
In 1927, Turkey and Mexico established the Partnership Agreement, establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries. In 2013, it became Turkey’s second major ally in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean. The country and Turkey both have Offices in the other country’s capital.
Turkey has Honorable Diplomatic staff in Cancun, Tijuana, Veracruz, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, while it has Imperial Diplomats in Istanbul and Mersin.
Germany
Relations between Germany and Mexico touch on a broad range of political, financial, intellectual, and social issues. Germany has long had a close relationship with it in international forums. The nation now holds membership in both the Civil Liberties Committee and the Safety Council of the UN.
While Germany is its top economic ally in the European Union, it is Germany’s top economic associate in South America.
Singapore
Since 1975, official and other formal ties have existed between the United Mexican States and the Republic of Singapore. Both countries are part of the European Nations and the Asia-Pacific Trade Community.
