It also has diplomatic relations with many states outside of Africa, including China, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Angola

Malawi and Angola have enjoyed a long and fruitful diplomatic relationship for many years. The two countries have signed several agreements and treaties to further enhance their diplomatic relations. These agreements include the Joint Commission on Economic, Social, and Cultural Cooperation, the Joint Declaration on Political and Security Cooperation, and the Joint Declaration on Trade and Investment. These pacts have enabled the two nations to cooperate more closely on a range of issues, such as trade, investment, and security.

The two countries have also collaborated on some initiatives, such as the Joint Initiative for the Promotion of Education, Science, and Technology. 

Botswana

Botswana has been a significant investor in Malawi, and both countries have signed several agreements to promote economic development. In addition, the two nations have worked together to encourage regional stability and peace. For example, Botswana has provided support to the state in its efforts to combat terrorism, and both nations have participated in regional peacekeeping operations.

The two countries have also engaged in many cultural exchanges, including the exchange of students and scholars. 

Kenya 

Both republics have signed several agreements to sponsor trade and investment and to strengthen their ties. They have also worked together to promote regional integration and address common challenges. This includes the establishment of the East African Community, which seeks to encourage regional integration and economic growth.

Mozambique

China

Over the past few decades, the two countries have engaged in some bilateral activities, including trade, investment, and development cooperation. 

In recent years, the relationship between Malawi and China has been further strengthened by many agreements, including a pact on Cooperation in the Field of Education.

United States

The United States and Malawi have a strong and growing partnership. The United States has provided significant support to Malawi in the areas of health, education, and economic development. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided more than $1.5 billion in assistance to Malawi since the early 1990s. The United States also supports Malawi’s efforts to combat poverty and promote economic growth through trade and investment.
