A brief history of diplomatic relations 

In 1927, the country acquired the diplomatic ties the U.K. had formed when it gained independence, as it was governed under UK law. In 1939, it received a representative from South Africa and dispatched an ambassador to the country. Canada established high commissions in South Africa, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand in 1946. After 1939, there were 22 high commissioners in the Commonwealth nations along with ambassadors in Chile, Norway, Poland, Yugoslavia, China, and the Soviet Union. The country also started offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. It established political ties with Germany in 1975. 

Diplomatic ties 

Today, Canada has diplomatic ties with 113 countries. A few of these alliances are explained below. 

South Africa 

In 1939, Canada formally opened ties with South Africa. It keeps a Foreign Office in Pretoria and a commercial bureau in Johannesburg South Africa. South Africa has senior commissioners in Vancouver and Sudbury in addition to its High Commission and Consul General in Ottawa and Toronto, respectively.

Germany

Canada and Germany are multinational associates who share a dedication to strengthening globalism and foreign laws governed by rules. Its foreign office is in the center of Berlin. India

Pakistan

It has a foreign office in Islamabad, a consular in Karachi, a commercial office there, and a diplomatic mission in Lahore. China

Long-standing and dating back well before the two countries’ 1970 official rapprochement, Canada and China have had a close relationship. An ambassador for Canada is located in Beijing, and honorary diplomats are located in Chongqing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Guangzhou. A supplementary structure of 10 trading centers, located all around the nation and run in conjunction with the Economic Corp, assists these foreign embassies.

Sweden

Canada and Sweden are dedicated to liberal values and collaborate closely to defend democracy, protect individual rights, and promote gender equality as two like-minded nations. Both nations collaborate to advance the Arctic partnership and the region’s environmental sustainability as northern democracies. Netherlands

Within global forums, the two nations work closely together and have a strong trade partnership. French is the official language of both thriving, multilingual, and ethnically diverse communities. Both nations have diplomatic representation in each other’s capital. Furthermore, there is a significant business relationship between the two countries that span the entire trading spectrum.
